Spike Buckley '68 credits his personal and professional successes to the strong foundation he received from both his family and his education at The Episcopal Academy. Thinking back to his time at Episcopal, Spike notes the great influence the school had on him from the time he enrolled in 4th grade. Throughout his years on campus, Spike developed the ability to think critically and sharpened his moral compass, two attributes he feels have served him well throughout his professional career. He also values the enduring relationships he has with his classmates, many of whom he views as role models to this day.
Now an established real estate developer in Denver, Spike wanted to show his appreciation to Episcopal by establishing a scholarship for a student who does not have the same advantages he had in his youth. Each year, Spike gives an outright gift to provide financial support for a deserving student on an annual basis. Through this contribution, Spike feels he is paying forward the life-altering experience he once had at Episcopal.
In celebration of his recent 50th reunion, Spike decided to include Episcopal in his estate plans and endow his scholarship so it will be awarded in perpetuity. The Jack '43 & Spike '68 Buckley Scholarship Fund honors both his father, for whom Spike has great love and admiration, and his family's legacy at the school. Spike's gratitude for and commitment to Episcopal will live on through his scholarship as the school continues to teach the critical thinking and leadership skills he feels are so desperately needed in today's ever-changing world.
